5. Cincinnati Bengals: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

The Cincinnati Bengals are now on the clock, and guess what? They pass on offensive line help once again as they turn to the defensive side of the football. Even after signing Trey Hendrickson to a massive deal, the Bengals look to continue to upgrade their pass rush, landing the top EDGE in the class in the form of Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux.

In the NFL, the formula for winning is passing the ball and stopping the pass. The Bengals have made significant upgrades to their passing attack after adding Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase in back-to-back years, and now they improve the ability to stop the pass by getting more pressure on the quarterback. AFC North beware, Thibodeaux is coming to town.

6. New York Jets: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU

The New York Jets are in a similar situation as the Jaguars. They used the bulk of their 2021 NFL Draft to address the offense early on, and now they look to turn their attention to the defense in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Somehow, the Jets managed to avoid using a premium pick at the cornerback position, an area of grave concern from 2020. Here, they land the cornerback that everyone has been talking about over the past two seasons.

LSU standout Derek Stingley becomes the first cornerback off the board as he heads from the Bayou to the Big Apple. Lockdown ever since starting as a true freshman, Stingley has been a force on his island in the SEC. Now, he will look to cover the likes of DeVante Parker and Stefon Diggs twice per year in the AFC East.
