23. Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

There’s a part of me that really wants to put Jimmy Garopplo lower than this but the fact is, he’s not a terrible quarterback when he’s on the field. For his career, he has completed 67.5 percent of his passes and has a respectable 51-to-26 touchdown-to-interception ratio. It’s not one of the best in the league but he’s close to 2-to-1 which is fine.

He also wins. A lot.

Jimmy G is 24-8 in his career as a starter and 22-8 overall with the San Francisco 49ers. He’s also 2-1 in the playoffs, with his lone loss coming at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2019 season.

Having said all of that, the fact is, his team just doesn’t believe in him which makes it hard to do so as an outsider. San Francisco recently used the No. 3 overall pick — which they traded up for — in order to land Trey Lance as the eventual replacement.

Given Lance’s lack of experience, Garoppolo likely begins 2021 as the starter but it won’t be long until we see Lance come in. Especially if the past continues to repeat itself. That past, is of course, the injury history that Garopplo has.

In his four seasons with the 49ers, Garoppolo has missed 26 games which is one of the main reasons they don’t believe in him. When it comes to sports, sometimes the best ability is availability, and that’s where Garoppolo has struggled.
