As Aaron Rodgers is not at Green Bay Packers minicamp and the front office continues to speak, a former receiver has a calming message for fans.

The Green Bay Packers are on the field for offseason minicamp but, as expected, one quite recognizable face is nowhere to be seen. Reigning NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not report to camp as his reported unhappiness with the organization continues to cause a divide that could possibly lead to the future Hall-of-Famer either not suiting up in 2021 or departing Green Bay.

While the team is working out in the offseason, though, the front office has been put in front of microphones. In particular, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy spoke recently about Aaron Rodgers and the ongoing dispute, maintaining that the organization is intent on working to get him to return but also calling the quarterback a “complicated fella”.

In the wake of that, though, former Packers wide receiver James Jones was on NFL Network and spoke to that matter, saying that Rodgers isn’t complicated. He noted that this is a complicated negotiation but the quarterback himself is not. He also urged fans to not draw too much from Murphy’s comments.

And when NFL Network tweeted out the segment, he harkened to the words of his former quarterback with another message to fans in Green Bay:

Should Packers fans be trusting former players about Aaron Rodgers?

Jones is among a number of former players who suited up in Green Bay — fullback John Kuhn, to name one — who have expressed optimism that Rodgers will ultimately end up back with the green and gold.

Yet, there has been continued panic drummed up about the possibility of Rodgers not returning to the Packers this season, if ever again. He could retire and host Jeopardy!. He could demand a trade. He could sit out the season. There are numerous things that could happen that don’t include the reigning MVP lining up under center this year.

Despite all of the concern, though, perhaps we should look at the prevailing message from some of Aaron Rodgers’ former teammates like Jones and Kuhn. They clearly recognize the rift between the quarterback and the organization but maintain that he will eventually get things worked out and be back.

Considering that Rodgers has consistently expressed that he loves the fans, his teammates and many other things in Green Bay, it still does seem as if this situation is salvageable. And if we’re to believe Jones, the front office doesn’t need to approach Rodgers as a “complicated fella” but, rather, as a superstar who feels he is in a complicated situation with how he’s been treated.
