2. Brevin Jordan, Houston Texans

Be careful of the hidden thinking trap rooted in the Houston Texans’ recent tradition of spreading targets thin across the tight end position. There’s a new regime calling the shots in Houston, and likely a new quarterback distributing the football, as well.

Ever since the DeAndre Hopkins trade, the Houston Texans have seen a tremendous amount of turnover in their wide receiving corps. The lack of continuity and meaningful depth at the position could very well lead to a much greater percentage of targets going to the tight end position.

Enter Jordan, a newly-minted Houston Texan on a team that’s going to be forced to throw more than it wants to. The former Miami standout, recently called a “no brainer steal” by new Texans head coach David Culley, instantly becomes the most talented pass catcher in a group that includes the Jordan Akins, Pharaoh Brown, Ryan Izzo and the gigantic-yet-invisible Kahale Warring.

He’s no Kyle Pitts, but the Texans’ Round 5 selection should benefit from the desired combination of talent and opportunity that fantasy football managers desire for their rookie prospects. Draft and stash him in all dynasty league formats, and be prepared to reap the benefits as soon as this year.
