NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 21. Richie Incognito

Richie Incognito comes across as your typical jock. He was a big offensive lineman that looked like he enjoyed a good laugh or two but other than that, he appeared harmless.

An offensive lineman is pretty much excused from public venom. They have the most unglamorous job on the football field and their stats are nonexistent which makes it even more difficult to hate someone when there’s no numbers to point to.

Everything went bad for Incognito in 2013 when former Miami Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin told the NFL that Incognito relentlessly bullied him. Incognito’s name wasn’t the only one on the report as Mike Pouncey and John Jerry also played a role in the scandal as well. But, it was Incognito who took most of the blame.

While it’s difficult to understand how someone who was as big and as strong as Martin allowed himself to be bullied, he admitted that he was “push over.” Playful ribbing between friends happen in the locker room but in this case, Incognito took things too far.

Fans immediately hated Incognito and it isn’t difficult to see why.
