30 NFL players fans loved to loathe
NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 15. Brett Favre
For fans, hating quarterback Brett Favre was easy. The Hall of Fame signal-caller was as good as anyone in the history of the game. He spent the bulk of his career with the Green Bay Packers and seemingly every Sunday, Favre was ripping out the hearts of fans all across the globe as the Packers went into enemy territory and put up astronomical numbers.
For Atlanta Falcon fans, they particularly hated Favre because he was once their quarterback. Yet when the team decided to ship him off after one year of riding the bench, they couldn’t believe how great he had become.
After 16 years of competing for Super Bowls, Favre spent the last handful of seasons in Green Bay mulling retirement. While Packer fans grew annoyed, they still loved Favre. That is, until he did the unthinkable in 2009. There’s nothing Packer fans hate more on this earth than divisional their rival, the Minnesota Vikings. So when Favre decided to play his final two seasons there, he alienated the one fanbase that loved him unconditionally.
Even to this day, well over a decade later, some Green Bay fans still hate Favre for wearing that purple jersey and betraying them.
