NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 12. Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy was the bad boy of the NFL who enjoyed being recognized as such. The boos he would hear seemingly every Sunday only made him play harder. In 2012 and 2013 while playing for the Carolina Panthers, Hardy was at his best as he racked up back-to-back double-digit sack seasons.

In 2014 however, the fun stopped as Hardy was accused and later found guilty of domestic violence. Upon his return one year later, Hardy went to the one team that was equipped to handle his personality but also a squad that would embrace his villain side: The Dallas Cowboys.

The boos rained mercilessly on Hardy when he donned the white and navy blue for the first time. To the delight of every single fan outside of Dallas, Hardy played pretty awful. His NFL career may have flamed out but those who enjoyed watching him fail, have now followed him to his new career, mixed martial arts.

While Hardy may have started his career in the cage on a hot streak, as of late, things haven’t gone too well. He was recently knocked out in the second round against Marcin Tybura. You can bet that brought a smile across the face of everyone who still hates Hardy.
