NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 6. Adrian Peterson

Some nicknames are catchy, others make absolutely no sense. Yet when it comes to the moniker “all day” for Adrian Peterson, it fit him like a glove.

Peterson was ruthless on the field. Whether his team was up by 30 or down by 30, in the first quarter or in the fifth overtime, Adrian Peterson had the same exact energy for the entire game. Although fans had no choice but to boo him whenever he touched the rock, at times, they simply couldn’t help but sit back and appreciate the greatness they were witnessing.

Peterson may have never won a Super Bowl ring, but he did damage to every fan base in NFL circles. During his heyday, there was virtually nothing you could do to stop him. Interestingly enough, the hate for Peterson didn’t really stem from his on-field play but mostly for what happened off it.

In 2014, it was revealed that Peterson used a switch to beat his son. While he was reprimanded by the league, even his die-hard fans were against him at this point. He would eventually get back into everyone’s good graces but not until an avalanche of criticism and boo’s first.
