Houston Texans: Andre Johnson, Wide Receiver
Another team with a weird situation to work out this year is the Houston Texans. They ended 2020 with a poor record and things got worse when Deshaun Watson let it be known he wanted out. One of the big reasons was the problems he had while Bill O’Brien was running the show and he likely doesn’t feel any better now since they didn’t hire Eric Bieniemy who he was rumored to be pulling for as the replacement.
Instead, Houston hired David Culley who was the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens — who had one of the worst passing attacks in the NFL last season. He’s also 65-years old, meaning he’s not going to be around for the long haul.
There’s also the off-field drama for Watson and in the end, it seems unlikely he plays for Houston this season. It appears as though Tyrod Taylor will take his place so it would be ideal to bring in another quarterback but Watson is not only the best they ever had, he’s really the only true franchise quarterback they have ever had.
So with that being the case, we elect to add Andre Johnson who is the most decorated wideout in team history. He’s first in team history in receptions (1,012), yards (13,597), and touchdowns (54). Bringing him back wouldn’t fix all their issues but it would help Taylor tremendously by giving him a legit superstar out wide to go to.
