The Dallas Cowboys are trying to rebound from a rough 2020 season. Here we look ahead to the 2021 campaign with these 5 early bold predictions.

Mike McCarthy joined the Dallas Cowboys following a year off from coaching and the expectations were through the roof. They had a loaded offense, an ascending star quarterback, and now a head coach with a Super Bowl ring.

What they didn’t have was a good defense which was one of their two main downfalls. The other was the injury suffered by Dak Prescott who broke his ankle in Week 5.

Dallas ended up finishing 6-10 — somehow barely missing the NFC East title. They now hope to rebound in 2021 with Prescott back and some tweaks made to their defense.

Let’s take an early look ahead and make five bold predictions for the Cowboys 2021 campaign.

5. Dalton Schultz will top 2020

One of the bright spots in 2020 for Dallas was the rise of tight end Dalton Schultz. With Blake Jarwin signing an extension in the offseason, he was supposed to be the new star at the position but then he suffered a torn ACL after making just one reception.

With Jarwin headed to the injured reserve, Schultz stepped in with just 13 career receptions (and only one in 2019) under his belt. In his first start against Atlanta in Week 2, he proved that his lack of statistics didn’t matter at all. He put up 88 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions.

Schultz never topped that first start, but he remained consistent throughout the season and had 63 receptions for 615 yards and four touchdowns. Looking forward to 2021, he’s supposed to split time with Jarwin now but he’s the more proven player of the two with that huge season under his belt.

This first prediction is that he not only keeps Jarwin at bay but that Schultz also tops his statistics from his breakout campaign.
