3. Trevon Diggs will grab 6 interceptions

One of the few bright spots on an otherwise atrocious defense in 2020 was the development of rookie quarterback Trevon Diggs. The second-round pick from Alabama was thrown into the fire right away since Dallas had no other options to start outside and it was a rough start.

Diggs was constantly picked on and gave up far too many receptions. However, he did what he had to do — he remained confident and kept grinding. Every week, he seemed to get better and while he was still giving up receptions, he was within range of making a big play more frequently every week.

By season’s end, he started to make those plays as he recorded three picks for the Cowboys — and seeing multiple picks from a cornerback in Big D had become a foreign concept before that. Diggs also had 14 pass defenses and a forced fumble in 12 games. He missed four after Jaylon Smith accidentally stepped on his foot, breaking a bone and sending him to the sideline for a while.

Heading into 2021, Diggs is slated to be the No. 1 cornerback in Dallas with Kelvin Joseph, Jourdan Lewis, and Anthony Brown rounding the unit out. He also has a new defensive coordinator in Dan Quinn, which could help him since Mike Nolan didn’t seem to be doing the players too many favors.

This prediction is that Diggs not only makes good on his role as the No. 1 corner but he also starts to make some of the plays that he left on the field as a rookie, ending with six picks on the year.
