If NFL franchises were EURO 2020 Teams: Part 2
By Tadhg Flynn
1. Belgium – NFL Franchise Comparison: Kansas City Chiefs
Next game: vs. Portugal, Sunday, June 27
Not many teams at EURO 2020 are as good as Belgium. They are many pundits’ standout team and for good reason. Their squad contains some of the world’s very best soccer players, including their creative leader, Kevin De Bruyne. Playing for Manchester City and having just won the Premier League in England, De Bruyne is a devastating player who any team would want.
In front of De Bruyne is Romelu Lukaku, a striker for Italian football giants Inter Milan who just won Serie A. These two players are just the tip of the iceberg for Belgium’s squad. All 26 players throughout their squad are the envy of any other nation.
The current generation of Belgian players is the best ever produced by the country, and they are favorites for any tournament they are in. Unfortunately, they still have not won a major international trophy in their history. They aim to change that this tournament.
With a generation of their finest ever players and new motivation to succeed where past teams have failed, Belgium are a perfect match for Kansas City Chiefs fans. Both teams have some of the most elite talent in the sport. They both have their best ever squad available to challenge within living memory.
Mahomes’ only equivalent player for talent in both passing and leadership in world soccer would be De Bruyne. The teams both play expansive, gung-ho football. Both teams even have red home jerseys. Chiefs’ fans will be right behind the Red Devils looking for their first-ever tournament win.
