Houston Texans: Charles Omenihu, Defensive End

This might be the toughest team in the NFL to select a breakout star for. The Houston Texans roster is pretty bleak right now. It could be even worse if they truly don’t have Deshaun Watson in 2021 — which has been suggested by many credible sources.

And now a new report surfaced on The Ben Maller Show on Fos Sports where Maller says that Watson might not be back until 2023 at the earliest.

"“If you look at the timeline on this, barring a drastic sea change, Deshaun Watson will not be playing in an NFL game until the very minimum 2023. That’s the EARLIEST. How did I get to that point? He’s going to be put on the Commissioner’s Exempt List – that’s going to happen likely in the next month before training camp opens up.” — Fox Sports Radio’s Ben Maller on Watson’s future in the NFL via Grant Seth of Texans Daily"

This is the last thing this team needed but this is where they are. And they have to field the team they have regardless of what’s going on with Watson.

Chances are, they won’t be good at all in 2021 but some players could still find individual success. One could very well be defensive end Charles Omenihu. With J.J. Watt in Arizona, Omenihu has a chance to become the leader of their front line and he has the talent to do so. If so, it would be a huge boost for a team that needs many, many huge boosts to be competetive.
