The San Francisco 49ers are getting in on the throwback uniforms hype as they’ll be pulling out the absolutely gorgeous 1994 kit in the 2021 season.
With the NFL recently passing a rule that will allow teams to wear throwback and alternate helmets, the talk of uniforms that can be revived starting in the 2022 season when the rule takes effect has been going wild. However, the San Francisco 49ers are here to get ahead of the curve, or so it would seem.
Since the historic franchise has not changed their iconic gold helmets in quite some time, they have the luxury of breaking out some iconic throwbacks already, meaning they can do so a year before we see a ton of other throwbacks from the other 31 NFL teams.
Specifically, the 49ers are ready to throw it back to their glory days of the mid-1990s as they’ll be rocking their iconic 1994 throwback uniforms. If that weren’t enough to get fans excited, on Wednesday night, the franchise offered up a look at the uniforms, including an appearance by the great Jerry Rice:
The 1994 uniforms are some of the cleanest in NFL history. You don’t have to be from San Francisco or be a fan of the franchise to think they are iconic either. The number shadowing, the shoulder stripes and everything about these jerseys just hit the mark.
Again, it will be next season before the rest of the league can bring their throwback uniforms back, at least for the most part. So 49ers fans should be extremely excited that they’re going to get to see it a year early from their favorite team rather than having to wait until the 2022 season.
In any manner, San Francisco will be blessed with these incredible uniforms this season and fans and non-fans alike should be excited to see them back in action.
