A Stephon Gilmore trade is almost necessary to help these 2 NFL teams

2. Seattle Seahawks – Because the Seattle Seahawks have essentially made a habit out of questionable offseason moves but still winning games and making the playoffs, not many are questioning the state of their defense. After losing Shaquill Griffin in free agency, though, this is a secondary that should be worrisome to anyone who pokes around in it.

Ahkello Witherspoon, Tre Flowers and Pierre Desir are set to start for Seattle and, while those are fine players, none of them are surefire lockdown players in coverage. The Seahawks have never been afraid of making an aggressive trade — as evidenced with Jamal Adams — and it would surely help fans sleep at night if they could move money around and bring in Gilmore via trade.

1. Las Vegas Raiders – Wouldn’t a blockbuster trade for a 31-year-old cornerback be the cherry on top for the Raiders’ strangely navigated offseason? This team under Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock completely overhauled the offensive line while trying to spend big defensively on the fly. But in doing so, the cornerback room was hardly touched.

There is young talent with Trayvon Mullen, Damon Arnette and Amik Robertson but Mullen is the only one of those with any positive track record to this point. If the Raiders want a steadying presence in that group and want to make a splash in doing so — which pretty much fits their M.O. — then trading for Gilmore should be on the table for the silver and black.
