With training camp around the corner, these five players on the Dallas Cowboys will be ones to watch as they fight for a spot on the team in 2021

The Dallas Cowboys are nearing the start of their 2021 training camp, which will be featured on the HBO series Hard Knocks. While fans are always glued to the news coming out of camp, this news gives them a chance to see even more of their franchise as they prepare for the new season.

And one of the main objectives this season is going to be improving upon their 2020 campaign. While we can point to the loss of Dak Prescott as a reason for their 6-10 finish, they still weren’t great with him, going 2-3 in his starts and one of those wins was thanks to a final drive from Andy Dalton after Dak went down.

As they look to improve, many players will find themselves struggling to even make the team. Here, we look at five such members of the roster with these cut candidates who will be fighting for a job.

5. Noah Brown, Wide Receiver

Let’s just say this first — even if Noah Brown doesn’t make the team in 2021, he has been a success story for the Cowboys. Selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Brown has been with the team for four seasons, which isn’t easy for a player taken in the final round of the draft to do.

The Ohio State product has great size for the position at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds and is an excellent blocker. Unfortunately, former head coach Jason Garrett seemed to only ever use him in that role so not only did they telegraph the run when No. 85 was on the field, but they also rarely targeted him.

Brown had just 17 targets in his first two seasons with nine receptions for 87 yards. Then, he missed the 2019 season due to a knee injury but came back in 2020 and had his best campaign. Brown finished with 14 receptions for 154 yards and even got four yards on a rush attempt.

However, he’s part of an insanely talented receiving corps that includes Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson, and rookie Simi Fehoko. It won’t be easy for Brown to make this roster but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Still, he will have to beat out some talented players to do so.
