30 best NFL players to win a Super Bowl with 2 or more teams: 17. Ed McCaffrey

Stats:

  • 7,422 receiving yards
  • 565 receptions
  • 55 TDs

It was all about patience for Ed McCaffrey. For years on end, he languished on the bench as a member of the New York Giants. He was a big, strong receiver standing at 6-5 and weighing 215 pounds.

No matter how good his measurables were and regardless of how good he looked in practice, McCaffrey couldn’t get a leg up on his Pro Bowl competition. He remained glued to the bench for his first five years in the league but along the way, he picked up a Super Bowl title in 1994 with the San Francisco 49ers. Although, his contributions were beyond awful, one catch for five yards in three games. But hey, a ring is a ring.

McCaffrey finally got his chance to shine once he moved on to Denver. For three straight seasons, he posted over a thousand receiving yards, including 1,317 in 2000. Believe it or not, that still wasn’t good enough to earn him a Pro Bowl spot. He would eventually earn two more rings as a minimal contributor.

While his career was nothing to write home about, the McCaffrey name is alive and well thanks to his All-Pro son, Christian McCaffrey. He may not have the championship Jewelry that his dad has but he has plenty of time to catch up.
