It’s never been a position that’s received the most respect in the world. While the rest of the team is sweating, bleeding and working tirelessly on every play, the field goal kicker appears to be lollygagging on the sidelines in a world of their own. When their number is called, their saunter onto the field and knock one right between the goalpost.

Most field goal kickers aren’t even considered athletes by some. Be that as it may, Adam Vinatieri is as respected as it gets.

Tom Brady may receive all the credit in the world for leading the New England Patriots to three titles in four years in the early 2000s, but if it wasn’t for Vinatieri, the legend of Brady wouldn’t exist. In all three of those Super Bowl wins, the Patriots won by three points which came off the leg of Vinatieri. He would eventually win one more, ironically enough, with Brady’s biggest rival in Peyton Manning.

Vinatieri was a three-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro selection. In terms of his standing amongst his fellow kickers, no one should be considered above him. Vinatieri ranks number one in points scored in NFL history with 2,673, second in extra points made with 874 and number one in field goals made with 599.

Adam Vinatieri is a legend and expect to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame as soon as he’s eligible.
