30 best NFL players to win a Super Bowl with 2 or more teams: 23. Dave Duerson

Stats:

  • 20 interceptions
  • 16 sacks

Another member of the 1985 Chicago Bears makes an appearance on this list, this time, in the form of safety Dave Duerson.

The start of his career wasn’t exactly what he was expecting. Duerson was seldom used in his first two years in the league. Although he played in all 32 games, he started in only six. Simply put, the players ahead of him were no slouches. But, the moment he got his chance, which ironically enough, came in 1985, he was a difference-maker.

It simply can’t be coincidental that the second Duerson moved into a starting role, the Bears went from a very good team to practically unbeatable. For four straight seasons, Duerson was named to the Pro Bowl squad. But in 1986, the year after winning it all with the Bears, Duerson had his best season ever. He racked up six interceptions and showed off his versatility with seven sacks on the year as well.

He was essentially a non-factor on a 1990 New York Giants team that went 13-3 and won the Super Bowl. Still, even with a relatively short prime, Duerson was amongst the best at his position for a handful of years.
