Frank Clark facing up to 3 years in prison after weapons arrest
After being arrested in June, Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark faces up to three years in prison for felony assault weapon possession.
In June, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark was arrested for felony possession of an assault weapon and now faces up to three years behind bars.
The All-Pro defensive end was pulled over during a routine traffic stop last month. TMZ reports that officers found Clark in possession of an Uzi, which Clark said was not his. Additionally, if convicted, Clark is subject to potential placement on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.
This is not the first time Frank Clark has found himself in the headlines for an off-the-field issue. While at Michigan in 2012, Clark was suspended from the team for felony second-degree home invasion.
Clark pleaded guilty to the charge but had it expunged from his record after following probation requirements through the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act. However, two years later, in 2014, Clark was arrested for domestic violence and subsequently dismissed from the football team.
Following being drafted in Seattle, Clark avoided the distractions and became a serviceable player for the Seahawks. In 2019, he was traded from Seattle to Kansas City with a third-round pick in exchange for a first and third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Clark then signed a five-year deal worth $105.5 million with $63.5 million guaranteed. Clark has since made two Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs while appearing in another this past season.
Clark is due in court next week for a hearing. What’s next for his life and, of less importance, his career remains to be seen. However, he clearly faces an extremely serious situation. We will continue to update NFL fans on any further developments from here on out.
