1. New York Giants

When you look at the possibilities for the New York Giants, it’s not hard to see where the optimism in the fanbase is coming from. The franchise signed the best offensive weapon that hit the open market, wide receiver Kenny Golladay, and also added speedy rookie Kadarius Toney with their first-round pick. What’s more, running back Saquon Barkley is returning from injury to try and reclaim his superstar status.

And for all of the jokes that were made about Joe Judge and his staff, they did an admirable job in the 2020 season in getting the most from their players, especially on defense. Now with more talent at their disposal, the path to getting even better on that side of the ball is obvious.

Unfortunately, there are two glaring problems that are going to hold the Giants back this season. Firstly, the return of Barkley might be all talk right now. Everything we’re seeing and hearing from New York indicates that he’s not at 100 percent and may not be so for Week 1. That’s worrisome for a team who, despite their weapons, still wants to rely heavily on Saquon.

Most importantly, though, Daniel Jones is still the quarterback of the Giants. For all of the perfume they’re putting on this offense, it’s do or die time for the former first-round pick and, based on what he’s shown to this point, it doesn’t look like he has the “do” part of that equation in him. The ultimate result of that will be another middling or worse season for the G-Men, which will be hard to swallow in a getable NFC East.
