The Dallas Cowboys have had their share of stars, but they’ve also had plenty of duds. Here we look at 10 players who should be in their Hall of Shame

Throughout their storied history, the Dallas Cowboys have had some of the biggest names in the NFL play for them. Heading into the 2021 season, they currently have 23 players in the Hall of Fame.

Players such as Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Troy Aikman, and Deion Sanders have all played for America’s Team. However, there have also been plenty of whiffs that came through Dallas.

With that being said, let’s dive in and look at 10 players who belong in the team’s Hall of Shame.

10. Ryan Leaf, Quarterback

After losing Troy Aikman following the 2000 season, Dallas was in quarterback purgatory until Tony Romo took over during the 2006 season. Before he came in, there were several players given a chance, and Jerry Jones was really digging deep looking for their savior.

They were so desperate for a signal-caller that during the 2001 campaign, they turned to Ryan Leaf who was a complete flameout for the San Diego Chargers.

At one point, there was talk Leaf could go ahead of Peyton Manning in the 1998 NFL Draft, but in the end, he fell to No. 2 and lasted two seasons in San Diego. He was 4-14 with them and had 13 touchdowns and 33 picks.

Dallas still gave him a shot and he was 0-3 with 494 yards and a 1-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Leaf didn’t do as much damage to the Cowboys as he did the Chargers but this was still a guy they never should have gone after.
