2. Dalton Schultz holds off Blake Jarwin

In 2020, the Cowboys were moving on from veteran tight end Jason Witten (again) and they were hoping to have Blake Jarwin take over the No. 1 spot. Jarwin had shown signs that he could be a dangerous weapon in the passing game and was surely more athletic than Witten at this point (and maybe at any point).

They believed in him enough to sign him to a three-year extension ahead of the regular season despite having minimal production entering the year. Unfortunately, Jarwin had just one reception in the opener before being lost to a torn ACL which means he never got a chance to prove he could break out. With him out, Dalton Schultz stepped in and performed better than expected.

In his first start during their Week 2 win over Atlanta, Schultz had nine receptions on 10 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown. He continued to play well from there on, finishing the season with 63 catches for 615 yards and four touchdowns.

Now heading into 2021, they have two players they believe in with Jarwin and Schultz. In this prediction, Schultz ends up keeping the starting job and holds Jarwin off. The big difference between the two is Schultz being a better blocker than Jarwin, which is why he winds up on the field more often.

Jarwin can still have a role in the offense and could be more dangerous in the passing game than Schultz, but the edge still goes to No. 86.
