Any Green Bay Packers fans holding their breath over Aaron Rodgers can exhale as the quarterback reportedly will suit up for the 2021 season.

When it comes to Aaron Rodgers, he’s been the source of much stress among Green Bay Packers fans this offseason. Since reports emerged that the reigning NFL MVP was unhappy with the organization and didn’t want to return, it’s been a constant game of “will he, or won’t he” about his future with the franchise.

Though the long-term future may not be settled just yet, the immediate future is starting to come into focus. And it feels safe to say that Packers fans can breathe a slight sigh of relief.

According to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers has told those close to him that he plans to rejoin the Packers and play the 2021 NFL season with the franchise that drafted him. Rapoport also added that was the “expectation” from the organization as well.

The prospect of not having Rodgers this season was certainly a harrowing one. Despite the shortcomings of the front office that have been pointed out often this offseason, this is a roster built to compete for a Super Bowl — but that only is the reality if Aaron Rodgers is under center. Now, it appears that’s not a concern.

Aaron Rodgers is giving the Packers one more shot at a Super Bowl with him.

Rodgers rejoining the team for the 2021 season right as training camp is set to begin is obviously positive. But we also can’t ignore the writing on the wall about what lies ahead. From indications around the league that the quarterback will leave after this year to he and wide receiver Davante Adams posting a not-so-cryptic “Last Dance” message on social media, this is likely the last hoorah for the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback in Green Bay.

Now, is there still an outside possibility that something could convince Rodgers and Adams to stay in Green Bay? Sure. Anything is possible. But saying that’s likely at this point would be stretching the truth a great deal.

Subsequently, the Packers are going to be contending for one more Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in the fold. That’s reason enough for fans in Green Bay to be happy right now. However, the future of the franchise still appears to be very much in flux.
