The division has sent two clubs to the playoffs four straight years. But it’s been more than a decade since the AFC South sent a team to the Super Bowl.

These days, it’s almost somewhat easy to forget that the Houston Texans captured the AFC South four times in a five-year span from 2015-19.

Of course, this past season proved to be disastrous for the franchise. Head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien didn’t last the year and now it’s GM Nick Caserio and first-time NFL sideline leader David Culley at the controls.

This past season, the Tennessee Titans captured the top spot in this division for the first time since 2008. Both they and the Indianapolis Colts finished 11-5 but each was an early playoff exit. The former fell at home to the Baltimore Ravens and Frank Reich’s club was ousted by the Bills at Orchard Park.

A pair of postseason teams from the AFC South followed by two very disappointing clubs.

On the other hand, the aforementioned Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars combined for just five wins a year ago. Houston’s fall was a result of many factors and head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien was given his walking papers after a 0-4 start. The result was a 4-12 showing and there’s a new regime in town.

But that was nothing compared to the disarray with the last-place Jaguars, who defeated the Colts on opening day at Jacksonville and proceeded to lose the remainder of their 15 contests. Now it’s Urban Meyer to the rescue.

Can the Titans repeat as division champions? Can the Colts revive a young quarterback’s career? Will the Texans and Jaguars get back on track?

NOTE: Teams are listed in order of finish in 2020.
