New Orleans Saints: Will Sean Payton able to cure what ails QB Jameis Winston?

He was the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. And unfortunately for the former Florida State Seminole, “pick” has become synonomous with quarterback Jameis Winston.

In 2019 with the Buccaneers, he led the NFL in passing yards (5,109) and threw for 33 scores. But there were also a disturbing 30 interceptions and a total of 35 turnovers. In 72 games with Tampa, there were a total of 121 touchdown tosses as well as 111 total turnovers. That’s certainly contrary to Sean Payton’s club, who in 2019 set an NFL record for the fewest turnovers (8) in a season.

Things may be a little more difficult than anticipated with the recent news that wide receiver Michael Thomas may miss the start of the regular season (via ESPN’s Mike Triplett).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Will the defending Super Bowl champions pick up where they left off?

It was a team that had not been to the playoffs since 2007. But not only did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers return to the postseason this past year, the club got hot when it counted most and rode that momentum into a 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

Bruce Arians’ club spent the first 12 games of 2020 getting to know each other. The club headed into Week 14 with a 7-5 record and three losses in four contests. But now Tom Brady and company bring an eight-game overall winning streak into the upcoming season. And the Bucs return all 22 starters, as well as wide receiver Antonio Brown, from their Super Sunday win over Kansas City. Can you say momentum?
