Aaron Rodgers brutally honest on Packers relationship upon return
Aaron Rodgers spoke to the media for the first time since returning to the Green Bay Packers, and he certainly didn’t mince words.
If anything has been made abundantly clear about Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he is not afraid to speak his mind and his thoughts. It was never more evident than in his first press conference since returning to the Packers after an offseason filled with drama and speculation regarding his future.
At one point, Rodgers addressed how he felt about the city and spoke about how he loved the team and was about to say that he loved the organization before switching his thoughts to the fans in Green Bay and how supportive they were. Rodgers, later on, spoke about how he respects the organization despite the turmoil that has existed.
Additionally, Rodgers spoke about his discussions with the organization and how his frustrations had nothing to do with the draft. Instead, it mostly had to do with his input or lack thereof being considered for how players should be treated in the organization. Moreover, he had a desire to have a say in matters that affected his job, such as his personnel.
Rodgers also spoke about how he had several thoughts of retirement after everything had gone down the way it did and even expressed gratitude for head coach Matt LeFleur. However, while detailing his relationship with general manager Brian Gutenkunst, whom he once referred to as Jerry Krause, Rodgers called it a “professional relationship.”
Aaron Rodgers can be harsh in his words, but he is not afraid to speak his mind and get his point across.
It was apparent that Aaron Rodgers had been harboring these feelings for an extended period, and when allowed to speak, he let it all out. What could we expect from this? Speculation can do all it wants, but until the source of information speaks out, it’s really anyone’s guess about what Rodgers’ true feelings really are.
It was just months ago when Rodgers not only won league MVP but guided Green Bay to the NFC Championship in Lambeau Field, although the dream of going to the Super Bowl was cut short by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Nevertheless, Green Bay earned the top overall seed in the conference and, by many accounts, made a case that had they reached the Super Bowl, they could have won against Kansas City. Still, once again, that’s mere speculation, as is what Aaron Rodgers truly felt about the organization.
He has now spoken out, and we will take what we can from this. However, it should be noted that Rodgers could leave Green Bay on his terms after this season. Whatever transpires remains to be seen, but what has been confirmed is that Rodgers will never forget when he feels slighted or disrespected. And we all got a chance to see it up close.
