NFL Running Back Rankings for 2021: Derrick Henry stiff-arms competition
By Randy Gurzi
26. Damien Harris, New England Patriots
Sony Michel was a first-round pick for the New England Patriots in 2018 and had more than 900 yards in each of his first two seasons. However, he dealt with injuries for much of the 2020 season and had just 449 yards and one touchdown.
That opened up the door for Damien Harris to take over and he had 691 yards and two touchdowns in just 10 games. That should be enough to get him the No. 1 job this season and Harris is a player who could end up out-performing expectations.
The only thing that could hold him back is the Patriots’ propensity to use as many running backs as humanly possible in every game.
25. Devin Singletary, Buffalo Bills
It wouldn’t have been a shock to see the Buffalo Bills try and bring in competition at running back this season. They elected not to do so, instead rolling with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss.
Singletary enters his third season with 1,462 yards and four touchdowns to his name. Moss, a rookie last season, had 481 yards and four touchdowns.
Singletary likely remains the starter but it wouldn’t be a shock to see him nudged out, especially if Moss makes a leap in year two.
