3. Randy Gregory, EDGE

One of the easiest players to root for on the Dallas Cowboys defensive is pass-rusher Randy Gregory. A former second-round pick from Nebraska, Gregory is one of the more gifted edge players in the NFL but he has also had to battle through several off-field issues to get to where he is today.

His battles have been well-documented and now, he’s gone from a player who was forgotten about to a member of the team’s leadership council. He’s been open, honest, and even vulnerable when talking about his struggles and hopes to not only revive his career but to also help others who struggle.

All of that is phenomenal, but the reason he’s mentioned here is his play on the field. Gregory has looked impressive so far in camp, getting after the passer with ease. Calvin Watkins of Sports Day Dallas spoke on his ability to push the pocket while also notating that he was getting his hands up and knocking down passes.

It’s been several years since Randy Gregory started out the season on the active list. One suspension after another has sidelined him and he’s always been battling just to get back on the field.

Having him active from the start of their offseason programs is going to be huge for him as he looks to reward the Cowboys for their never-ending support of him.
