Best player available is always the way to go.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys were in desperate need of help both at cornerback and defensive end. Instead of reaching for a player at one of those positions, they took wide receiver CeeDee Lamb who was the top player on their board.

Lamb, a wideout from Oklahoma, was a steal at No. 17 but the Cowboys were stacked at receiver with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup who each had more than 1,000-yards last season. Dallas still felt as though Lamb was their best move in the draft and so far, it looks as though they were right.

As a rookie, Lamb had 74 receptions for 935 yards and five touchdowns — which was impressive considering they had to go through four different quarterbacks after Dak Prescott broke his ankle. Now heading into 2021, he looks like he’s ready for even more.

Day after day, a highlight reel play is made by Lamb including this clip where he embarrassed Trevon Diggs who could have done nothing else to stop No. 88.

Right now, Amari Cooper is working his way back from offseason surgery and Michael Gallup hurt his knee on the team’s horrific training camp field — if only there were a nice place they could practice closer to home. That’s opened the door for Lamb to get even more attention and he hasn’t disspaointed.

If these first few days are any indication, Lamb is in store for a huge sophomore campaign.
