Fantasy football draft season has arrived and we’re here to help you prepare with a 3-round mock draft in a 12-team half-PPR league.

Can you feel that – that change in the air? It’s mystifying, exciting, electric. We’re in the endgame now, folks, as the 2021 NFL season is about to begin. The Hall of Fame Game has started the preseason and fantasy football is about to begin in less than a month and drafts are getting underway.

We’re keeping it short here because this is a mock draft, my own 1.0 version (at least the first three rounds of it).

There will be plenty of risers, fallers, locks and reaches. Those are the things that make fantasy football and fun, the chaos of it all. However, the goal here is, if someone is a bit off from their current ADP, there will be a justification for it. You can also look back at some previous work and hopefully provide some context.

Here we go; three rounds, 12 teams, no holds barred. Are you ready for some (fantasy) football? (Note: All ADP information is via Fantasy Pros.)

Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Round 1

  • 1.01: Christian McCaffery
  • 1.02: Alvin Kamara
  • 1.03: Dalvin Cook
  • 1.04: Saquon Barkley
  • 1.05: Derrick Henry
  • 1.06: Davante Adams
  • 1.07: Ezekiel Elliott
  • 1.08: Travis Kelce
  • 1.09: Nick Chubb
  • 1.10: Antonio Gibson

Currently going at an ADP of 2.03, so you might be able to wait at the turn and get Antonio Gibson early in the second round. But why is he a top-10 pick in this mock draft?

Washington head coach Ron Rivera has already come out and said he wants to get Gibson the ball in the passing game more, which is music to the ears of fantasy football owners! With the potential addition of half-PPR points, it is easy to see why Gibson is making the list of players prepared to break out in a big way.

The additions of Curtis Samuel and Ryan Fitzpatrick should only open up the running lanes for Gibson, as well. I do worry about the loss of Morgan Moses but I am sure a hard-nosed coach like Rivera won’t be too quick to abandon the run. Gibson should have more than enough opportunity to capitalize on a promising rookie year.

Gibson ranks in my top 10 at his position with the upside potential of being a top-five RB.

  • 1.11: Tyreek Hill
  • 1.12: Jonathan Taylor

No real surprises at the back end of the first round with Hill and Taylor wrapping things up.
