One bold prediction for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021-22: Take a major step back

We might be going out on a limb here but we’re going to call Justin Herbert a one-year wonder. Now yes, Herbert was sensational last season for his first year in the league. He threw for 4,336 yards and set the rookie record for touchdown passes with 31.

There’s no doubt that he was sensational but there was absolutely no tape on him for most of the year. In addition to that, he wasn’t even expected to start, which makes his success even more flukey.

Keenan Allen is a stud of a wide receiver and the second-year quarterback will have a ton of other options. With that said, the Chargers failed to produce a receiver who cracked a thousand yards. They also didn’t have much of a running game ranking towards the middle of the pack in that category.

With an entire year to dissect, expect Herbert and the Chargers to take a big-time step back.
