One bold prediction for the Tennessee Titans in 2021-22: An abrupt fall from grace

The past few seasons have been practically an anomaly for the Tennessee Titans. For the better part of two decades, they’ve floated around as a mediocre team and seldom made the playoffs. However, over the past two seasons, they’ve made Tennessee fans proud as they made back-to-back postseason trips and even made an appearance in the AFC title game.

This past offseason, the expectations have gone through the roof, mostly because of the addition of wide receiver Julio Jones. With so many experts and fans picking the Titans as their dark horse favorite to win it all this upcoming season, were here to tell you to slow your roll and relax. This team is primed and ready for a major setback.

For starters, Julio Jones isn’t what he used to be. At the age of 32, Jones has been extremely brittle. Only once in the past three seasons has he played in all 16 games. He’s also failed to crack a thousand yards in two of those seasons as well. His catch percentage reached a career-low of 56.8% and his 73.8 receiving yards per game were the lowest of his career.

Also, Derrick Henry is being run into the ground. Expect to see a major drop off in his production. With back-to-back seasons of over 300 attempts, Henry will start to fall apart physically. Just look at previous running backs once they had a few 300 attempt seasons.

DeMarco Murray was never the same once he rushed for 1,845 yards on 392 attempts in 2014. Ezekiel Elliot is essentially a shell of his former self after the Cowboys placed the ball in his belly over 300 times in three of his first four seasons. Now, he seems to be moving in quicksand. Doug Martin also fell off hard after getting over 300 carries. Recording only one more season of over a thousand yards.

In short, Henry is due for a decline and once he isn’t capable of carrying this team to victory, they’ll fall by the wayside and watch the playoffs from a distance.
