One bold prediction for the Washington Football Team in 2021-22: Defense doesn’t rule the day

Whenever the offensive unit for the Washington Football Team would trudge onto the field, even the most loyal of fans would roll their eyes and moan out loud. Their reasoning was simple, they were awful on that side of the ball.

Washington was flat-out terrible at times. They ranked in the bottom ten of every major statistical category. Most of that was due to the turnstile of quarterbacks they had at their disposal. With names such as Kyle Allen, Dwayne Haskins and a one-legged Alex Smith, Washington stood no chance on that side of the ball. With that said, they could always depend on their defense.

Call us crazy but we just don’t view Washington as having another year in which they dominate the league on defense. No one on their defensive line recorded double-digit sacks, also, stopping the run was one of their weaknesses, somewhat. That was the only defensive category in which they ranked in the middle of the pack, checking in at 14th league-wide.

When Washington made a surprising postseason berth, they allowed 31 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Along the way, quarterback Tom Brady may have revealed a major flaw as Washington struggles when opposing teams increase the tempo. Those big guys upfront need a chance to catch their breath and Brady simply wouldn’t allow it.

If everyone else around the league was paying attention, they’ll notice that chink in their armor and expose it all season long.
