2. Dallas Cowboys

We’re no strangers to asking questions about the Dallas Cowboys secondary and for good reason. It’s no a stretch to say that, after losing Byron Jones in free agency prior to last season, the unit for America’s Team was among the worst in the NFL. That doesn’t mean there weren’t bright spots and the team has worked to improve them.

Trevon Diggs played well at the end of his rookie season in 2020 and there are high hopes for rookies Kelvin Joseph (Round 2) and Nahshon Wright (Round 3). Beyond that, Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis are experienced younger players who, though they have been far from perfect, have played well at times in their careers with the Cowboys.

But it’s clear with Diggs, Joseph and Wright that Dallas is still trying to figure out the secondary by adding young, high-upside players. And while I like all of those players and their long-term outlook, the ceiling for C.J. Henderson is still higher, which is why they should explore a possible trade.

Salary cap restraints preclude the Cowboys from a lot of possible trades but, with a player on a rookie contract, a deal becomes feasible. If Dallas wants to make a big splash entering the 2021 season, Henderson could be exactly that.
