Dallas Cowboys Preseason Week 1 Standout No. 2: Nahshon Wright, CB

Many times in training camp and in the preseason, we’ll hear about drum beats, the players you’re consistently hearing good things about day-in and day-out. One such player for the Cowboys has been third-round rookie Nahshon Wright, who has seemingly already exceeded expectations coming into the 2021 campaign. And the matchup with the Cardinals was another example.

Not only was he just a fingertip away from a beautiful deep interception but he continued to make nice plays throughout the game, including showing up late on special teams with some nice tackles. Make no mistake, there is still work to go for a player who, overall, is pretty raw. With that being said, the arrow continues to point up for the rookie cornerback.

Dallas Cowboys Preseason Week 1 Standout No. 1: Osa Odighizuwa, DT

With Neville Gallimore, unfortunately, leaving Friday’s game with what could be a serious injury, that allowed the backup defensive tackles to get a ton of reps and, for the second straight game, it was hard not to notice third-round rookie Osa Odighizuwa. He finished the game with three total tackles and one tackle for loss but that doesn’t wholly encapsulate how good he was.

Frankly, Odighizuwa was dominant throughout the night. He consistently created pressure and won his matchups on the interior in a variety of situations. Especially if Gallimore is going to miss significant time, the Cowboys need the UCLA product to step in and be disruptive. If two preseason games are any indication, he might be able to provide that.
