The New York Jets and New York Giants face off in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL preseason as both teams in the Big Apple aim to take big steps forward.
Neither the New York Jets nor the New York Giants have been familiar with success in recent years. However, both franchises made moves this offseason to try and pull themselves up out of the mire. We’ll get our first look at the fruits of those labors by the organizations as they meet for the Snoopy Bowl in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL preseason.
It’s an annual tradition between the Jets and Giants for each team as they meet in the preseason but there is a lot to be learned in this matchup. Gang Green added their hopeful franchise quarterback and beefed up both sides of the ball with new head coach Robert Saleh taking over. Big Blue, meanwhile, has put a ton of weapons on offense to try and take a step forward there.

Fans in the northeast should be able to watch this NFL Preseason matchup on local channels as they are within the market for these two clubs. For out-of-market fans, however, the game can be live streamed with a paid subscription to NFL Game Pass. The Jets will get their first in-game look at quarterback Zach Wilson on Saturday and there is a lot of intrigue. His reported struggles in training camp have been widely noted but the quarterback has maintained that he’s testing his limits. We’ll finally get to see how true that is as he takes the field for the first time against a pretty good defense for the G-Men.
Saleh will also run out a new defense on Saturday as the personnel has undergone a number of changes coming into the year. We may not see guys like Carl Lawson too much but it will be curious to get a view of how much the regime change can turn things around on that side of the ball in one year.
As for the Giants, we have a good idea what this defense will look like. When Joe Judge and Patrick Graham arrived in New York, they made an instant impact there and they look to keep things up and the expectation is that they should.

What Big Blue is really hoping for is a big step forward on offense. They’ve upgraded the weapons substantially and we should get a look at Kadarius Toney on Saturday but the crux of the issue is if Daniel Jones is the quarterback of the future. He has a lot to prove and improve upon if that’s going to definitively be the case.
