14. New York Jets: Carl Lawson, Vinny Curry

One of the highest-priced free agent signings this offseason was Carl Lawson, who landed a deal worth roughly $15 million per season. He’s shown during his time with the Bengals that he can get after the quarterback but he has yet to be a full-time starter.

That will change with the New York Jets and head coach Robert Saleh is sure to get the most out of him. Also starting on the edge will be Vinny Curry, an experienced veteran who is currently injured. Once he gets healthy, it should give New York a formidable duo, something they haven’t had in quite a while.

13. Las Vegas Raiders: Yannick Ngakoue, Maxx Crosby

At first glance, the Las Vegas Raiders defensive line might not seem to be a great unit, but that’s likely due to the belief that Clelin Ferrel has been a bust. There are even those who are ready for the team to move on from him — but that probably won’t happen because he’s actually been pretty decent against the run. He probably also won’t be the starter in 2021 since Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue are ahead of him.

Crosby ended up being a pleasant surprise after recording 10 sacks as a rookie in 2019. He continued to deliver pressure at a high rate in year two and now has a potential Pro Bowl player across from him in Yannick Ngakoue. In five seasons, Ngakoue has 45.5 sacks and is looking for more consistency after having to split time in 2020 with the Vikings and Ravens. In all, this is actually a pretty solid unit and they can get deep behind the starters as well.
