Which five players are demanding attention in the second preseason game for the Dallas Cowboys as they host the Houston Texans?

The preseason moves on as we have the annual contest between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. This year, the in-state rivalry comes to AT&T Stadium as the Cowboys welcome Houston to Jerry World.

This will be game No. 2 for Houston in the preseason but Dallas is onto their third contest since they got an extra exhibition game due to being in the Hall of Fame Game. The general consensus is that this is an advantage and while some might argue it, the truth is, it has given them an extensive look at some of their players.

Some of those players have definitely stood out so far — both good and bad — which is helping the Cowboys figure out their best 53 players. With that being said, we take a look at five players who are demanding attention, one way or another, heading into this matchup.

5. Ben DiNucci, QB, Dallas Cowboys

A seventh-round pick out of James Madison in 2020, Ben DiNucci is the definition of a project quarterback. He got one start as a rookie and it went rather poorly for him and the team. In his defense, the offensive line was also a mess but DiNucci looked as though he was thrust into action way too early.

Following a full season of working with the Cowboys, the team was hopeful that he could start to show strides and when you watch him play, you can see why. DiNucci has a unique throwing motion which sometimes works to his advantage — although it could also explain some of his errant throws. He’s also able to run the ball which can be fun, and he has shown off those wheels a couple of times already in the preseason including his 4th-and-21 conversion in the Hall of Fame game.

Right now, it seems like a long shot that DiNucci can make the team but he will get plenty of work over the following two games to make his case. And whether he looks great, or looks bad, he will be demanding all the attention.
