There is a lot to be said for reliability. Back in 2011, the franchise made Boston College tackle Anthony Castonzo the 22nd overall pick in the draft. He spent 10 seasons with the organization and played and started 144 games for the Colts. He was never named to the Pro Bowl or earned All-Pro honors but was a consistent force on a line that has emerged as one of the better units in the league.

Castonzo missed four games in 2020, as well as the playoff loss at Buffalo. He retired this offseason and general manager Chris Ballard has attempted to fill the void. The team signed Julién Davenport, who spent the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. They also added Sam Tevi, late of the Chargers.

Perhaps more significantly, the club signed former Kansas City Chiefs’ standout Eric Fisher. The first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft was released by the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. He’s still on the mend after suffering an Achilles’ injury in the AFC title game.

Davenport got the nod last week vs. the Panthers and had his issues (via NFL.com’s Adam Maya). Will he be in the starting lineup when Frank Reich’s team opens the season against the Seahawks?
