1. LB Kwon Alexander

He was with the team and then not with the team and now back with the team.

Back in 2015, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used a fourth-round pick on LSU linebacker Kwon Alexander. He was a steady and productive player for the team for three seasons. He logged 90-plus tackles each year and in his second season he logged an astounding 145 defensive stops, to go along with three sacks and seven passes defensed. A year later, he was named to the Pro Bowl.

Alexander was limited to only six games in 2018. A year later, the San Francisco 49ers came calling in free agency and inked the talented performer to a lucrative contract. But injuries limited his playing time with the club and last November (via NFL.com’s Kevin Patra), he was dealt to the Saints for Kiko Alonso and a conditional fifth-round draft choice.

He wound up playing seven games for Sean Payton’s club. He finished with 27 tackles, recovered a pair of fumbles and knocked down four passes. He was cut loose this offseason but recently re-signed with the franchise.

If he can remain healthy, this defense should rebound from its late-season slump.
