18. team. 123. . . Previous: 13th. Dallas Cowboys

Somewhere along the line, the Dallas Cowboys need to act like they give a darn. This might be the most lackadaisical team in the NFL and it only gets worse. Sure, there will be fans out there screaming “it’s only the preseason” but we heard excuse after excuse last season as well when they failed to stop anyone on defense. We also heard excuse after excuse when they couldn’t muster up any points when their defense did actually stop anyone.

Now when they come out and turn the ball over four times, we hear more excuses. It’s time to stop excusing bad play and actually do something that even remotely assembles playing football.

There’s talent here, but the team lacks guidance ‚— and it’s probably a problem that goes all the way to the top. I’m talking salt on a McGriddle top, if you know what I mean.

Previous: 18th. San Francisco 49ers. 17. team. 42. .

The biggest question for the San Franciso 49ers right now is when will they decide to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo. We all know they will because no one moves up to take a quarterback at No. 3 with the plan of him riding the bench for several years. But they still decided not to make a clean break, instead forcing Trey Lance to serve his time behind Garoppolo.

Kyle Shanahan knows what he’s doing but it still feels like a weird process. In today’s NFL, practice reps are rare and they go to the starter. That means the best way to develop Lance is to play him, and we have all seen enough that Garoppolo isn’t the guy. Make the move, Kyle, you’ll be glad you did.
