Josh Allen made his preseason debut in the final week for the Buffalo Bills and the quarterback already looks like he’s ready to dominate the NFL again.

Few quarterbacks in NFL history have made the rapid ascension to stardom in the way Josh Allen did in 2020 with the Buffalo Bills. Entering the league as a prospect with all the tools in the world, he struggled with accuracy and consistency over his first two seasons. Year three, however, saw him emerge as a legitimate MVP candidate and earn a massive new contract.

Through two preseason games, though, head coach Sean McDermott had elected not to play his star quarterback. That changed on Saturday against the Packers in the preseason finale as he let Allen loose for almost a full first half worth of action.

Suffice it to say that Green Bay would’ve likely preferred if the Bills had kept Josh Allen on the bench for this game.

There doesn’t seem to be any rust with Josh Allen leading the Bills.

Even with Stefon Diggs staying on the sidelines for preseason action, Allen took the field and immediately marched the Bills down the field. Out of the gates, he was taking what the defense gave him, finding multiple players underneath and making plays. Then he uncorked his massive arm with a gorgeous touchdown strike to Gabriel Davis:

Allen wasn’t done there. Not only did the bulldozer with speed show off the wheels that have made him so dangerous to this point in his career but he showcased his improved red-zone passing as he found running back Zack Moss for another score:

Playing all but the final drive of the first half against Green Bay, Allen finished his preseason debut going 20-of-26 for 194 yards and two touchdowns along with a four-yard rush.

There were some questions around the league whether or not there would be any regression from Josh Allen after his breakout campaign. It’s only one half of action against, admittedly, mostly backups for the Packers. But nothing the Bills quarterback showed suggests that he’s going to slow down after the 2020 season.
