New head coach Dan Campbell has yet to taste victory with the Detroit Lions after finishing the preseason with a mark of 0-3. After the game, he said he was “encouraged” by his team’s play while acknowledging there’s still work to do.

"“I’m encouraged — I am,” Campbell said via the AP through ESPN. “Do we still have work to do? Yeah. A lot of work to do, but we have time. The hardest thing is to have urgency and patience at the same time. I don’t know how you do that, but I’m working on it.”"

That’s probably a bit of an understatement. Detroit has a rough road ahead of them since they already had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season and now, they have taken a step backward in the offseason on offense.

And while the lack of wins in the preseason usually means very little, this is a team that could have used something good to build upon. If they don’t figure out how to get a few wins, things could get ugly very quickly for this franchise.

If there is anything positive for them heading into the season, it would be that the Lions did add some future draft picks, and that’s really where their eyes need to be — on the future.
