NFL Power Rankings, Week 1: Dolphins hurt by trade talk, Bears look foolish
By Randy Gurzi
Every team has one primary goal every preseason, don’t get any star players injured. It’s impossible to guarantee that won’t happen, but they all do their best to limit the number of hits their players take.
Despite taking precautions, star players go down every year before the regular season begins and that happened to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday when running back J.K. Dobbins injured his left knee and had to be carted off the field.
It’s always hard to see a player injured but if there’s a silver lining for this team, it’s the fact that they’re deep at the position after extending Gus Edwards recently. Having him means the Ravens can keep rolling on offense, but it’s still difficult to watch a young man go through the pain Dobbins currently is enduring.
Baltimore ended up running away with the game after the injury, winning 37-3 against Washington. That means they have now won 20 preseason games in a row which is an NFL record. Some may scoff at this, but it’s a little more proof that the Ravens are a team that has a winning culture top to bottom, and even their reserves in the preseason take pride in securing victories.
And they dominated in every facet. They had 308 yards passing with four touchdowns from Tyler Huntley through the air. They added 183 yards on the ground as well while holding the Football Team to 128 passing and 45 rushing.
