Some of the starters finally got on the field for the Cleveland Browns. That didn’t include Odell Beckham Jr., Nick Chubb, or Myles Garrett, but Baker Mayfield did make his debut in their final preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

One of the biggest storylines this year for Mayfield is the fact this is the first time he will be working with the same head coach and offensive coordinator for a second year. On Sunday, that was evident from the start.

He began the game facing a first-and-20 from the Cleveland 15 and he moved them right down the field. They missed out on points but would have had three in a regular-season game. He then played one more series, hit a touchdown, then headed to the sideline.

It was enough to see that he’s coming into his own in the Kevin Stefanski system. On top of that, he will have Odell Beckham Jr. back and the defense should be much better in 2021.

Cleveland added eight — maybe nine — new starters on defense including a star player in Jadeveon Clowney and a couple of stud rookies in Greg Newsome II and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. They might need time to jell, but when they do, this could be one of the top teams in the NFL.
