Chicago Bears Wide Receivers

WR1: Allen Robinson

Robinson has spent the preseason just waiting for the real games to begin. He signed the franchise tag and didn’t cause any waves since he didn’t like it. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays this season. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Dalton or Fields, whoever throws passes to him will be the best quarterback he’s played with. Considering how he’s played with inferior quarterbacks, let’s see how he does with better quality.

WR2: Darnell Mooney

Mooney had an impressive rookie season, though he wasn’t able to play in the Chicago Bears’ playoff game due to an injury. He’s primed to have a breakout season. There were a number of times when he was wide-open downfield but the quarterbacks weren’t able to get the ball to him. Hopefully, that changes this season.

WR3: Marquise Goodwin

One of the offseason priorities for the Chicago Bears offense was adding speed. Goodwin adds plenty of speed to the receivers corps. He and Mooney will extend opposing defenses, opening space underneath. Let’s see if the plan goes well.

WR4: Damiere Byrd

Byrd has had a very good training camp but hasn’t done much in the preseason games. He is another speedy receiver that the Bears wanted for the offense. He had a good season last year with the New England Patriots in rotation, amassing 604 receiving yards. If he can do the same in Chicago it gives the Bears a pretty deep wide receivers corps.

WR5: Rodney Adams

Adams gives the Bears a feel-good story. Just a couple of seasons ago he retired from football and tried acting. He still felt the NFL calling and felt he could make it and contribute to a team. After his performance in training camp and the preseason games, he gets that chance.

WR6: Dazz Newsome

This was a tough one to pick. It came down to Newsome or Riley Ridley. Ridley has been here a couple of seasons but hasn’t done much. Newsome is the Bears’ sixth-round pick. Both have had pretty good training camps. The deciding factor is that Newsome can also contribute as a returner.
