Chicago Bears Cornerbacks

CB1: Jaylon Johnson

The Chicago Bears shocked everyone in the offseason when they cut former All-Pro cornerback Kyle Fuller. They tried to restructure his contract but he wasn’t interested in that. Therefore, the Bears decided to cut ties and let him go.

That leaves second-year player Johnson to take over for Fuller. He had a good rookie season but it was cut short because of a shoulder injury. He now wants to show he’s capable of stepping in for Fuller.

CB2: Kindle Vildor

Vildor had such a great training camp that he’ll be a surprise choice at CB2. He showed great instincts and uses good technique. He is a solid player and earned a starting spot.

CB3: Duke Shelley

This is something fluid. Shelley will start in the slot but that could change fairly quickly. He’s made some good plays in the preseason but he’s also had some bad days in training camp.

CB4: Desmond Trufant

Trufant was supposed to start opposite of Johnson but he’s been hit or miss during training camp. He has the most experience in the unit so if he can be more consistent he could overtake Shelley.

CB5: Artie Burns

Burns had a very good camp coming back from ACL surgery. While he has played well, the important thing is how he does once the games count.

CB6: Thomas Graham Jr.

Graham is at the bottom but he could rise up the depth chart pretty quickly. He could be a steal for the Chicago Bears. He was rated as a second or third-round prospect before the draft but for some reason, he fell to the sixth round. Opting out of last season may be the reason why since there were no red flags on him. At any rate, he’ll continue to impress and could find himself playing a lot more snaps than many expected from him.
