4. Curtis Weaver comes from a program the Dallas Cowboys love
There was a time when the Dallas Cowboys were considering changing their name to Boise State South. No, not really. But they were constantly adding players from this program.
Right now, they have DeMarcus Lawrence, Leighton Vander Esch, and Cedrick Wilson on the team from Boise State and they just let go of Darian Thompson who was also a former Bronco. Even on the sideline, BSU is represented in Dallas with Kellen Moore serving as the offensive coordinator.
With all that being said, could they look to another former Boise State Bronco who just got waived? Curtis Weaver finished his three seasons in Boise with some insane numbers. He had 128 tackles, 47.5 tackles for a loss, 34 sacks, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
Simply put, he was a beast. The problem was, his athletic limitations had NFL teams worried about his production transferring to the next level.
This led to him falling to the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He never actually played for Miami, however, as he was injured and waived. The Cleveland Browns swooped in and stashed him on the IR for his rookie season but that proved to be in vain as he was named among their cuts to get down to 53.
Weaver could end up back on the Browns practice squad, or a team like Dallas that needs depth on the edge could see about giving him a shot.
