John Brown requested his release from the Raiders and it was granted. So which NFL teams should now jump to sign the wide receiver?

When he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, John Brown made a ton of sense for the silver and black’s offense. The departure of Nelson Agholor made way for a deep threat and, though not a complete player, the downfield playmaking of Brown has never been in question. For whatever reason, though, that didn’t work out for Brown and the Raiders.

As Las Vegas was cutting their roster to 53 players, the wide receiver reportedly requested his release, which the team granted him. Now, John Brown is a free agent looking for work elsewhere in the NFL for the 2021 season.

Where could the veteran speedster end up and, just as importantly, where would he make the most sense? The whole list isn’t limited to these three landing spots but they stand out among the possible options.

NFL teams that should sign WR John Brown

3. Tennessee Titans – The big acquisition of Julio Jones on the trade market this offseason has overshadowed a simple fact about the Titans offense: This team is dangerously thin at wide receiver. And after rookie Dez Fitzpatrick didn’t make the 53-man roster, that is more so the case with Jones, A.J. Brown and Van Jefferson.

Brown would offer a different element to those guys as there isn’t a pure deep threat on the Tennessee roster right now. He could come into the mix and help provide that downfield option in the passing offense and, perhaps more importantly, give the Titans necessary depth at the position.

2. Indianapolis Colts – No one was particularly excited about the Colts wide receiver corps coming into the year. But now people are legitimately worried about the pass-catchers now that T.Y. Hilton is out of action indefinitely with a bulging disc in his neck. That leaves Michael Pittman Jr., Zach Pascal and Parris Campbell to lead this group.

Brown could join this team and be something similar to what Hilton provided in his prime. No, he won’t be a threat all over the field but in terms of having the speed to attack over the top, that’s something the free agent could give Carson Wentz and/or Jacob Eason in Indianapolis.

1. Kansas City Chiefs – One of the things not being talked about enough with the high-octane Chiefs offense is the lack of depth at wide receiver. Outside of Tyreek Hill — and, truthfully, Travis Kelce — Kansas City will likely be relying upon Mecole Hardman, Byron Pringle and so on to play bigger roles than they have ever before.

Brown would fit into the deep passing offense for the Chiefs that has thrived with Patrick Mahomes while also having the merit of proving he can do that consistently before in the NFL. And again, Kansas City is another team that could surely use the depth.
